About the Author

I am a nurse, researcher, educator, and public health leader who has spent my career working alongside family caregivers and communities to help create systems that are more supportive, more equitable, and more responsive to real lived experience. I work to strengthen community partnerships and advocate for policy and systems change.

I am also the co-founder of the Alana Rose Foundation, created in loving memory of our daughter to help raise awareness and provide hope, healing, and support to families who experience pregnancy and infant loss.

More importantly, I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, and a friend.

I write from both my professional experiences and my lived experience as a bereaved mother. I believe in the power of collective healing and in the profound wisdom that emerges when we share our stories.

My daughter, Alana, died before she took her first breath. Losing her has transformed every part of who I am.

I am, and always will be, Alana’s mom.

Grateful & Grieving,
